Did You Know ... that:
First Nation Aboriginals (Canadian) and Native American Indians (U.S.) have always known about sasquatch
Most North American Indian tribes have centuries-old knowledge of "wild men" living in their nearby forests. Each native tribe has one or more names for this creature that have been passed down in their folklore for generations.
Sightings Happen Across the Continent
Thousands of people have had sightings that have occurred across North America and not just in the Pacific Northwest. These witnesses come from all walks of life - they are not all country bumpkins as the media would have you believe and many have extensive knowledge of the outdoors. Their sightings have been investigated by experienced researchers who have determined their credibility. All of them have seen creatures that exactly fit the description of a sasquatch.
Scientists Are Now Involved
There are now many scientists who are working with sasquatch researchers and are looking for evidence of the creature's existence.
The Media Misrepresents the Subject
Media coverage of the subject is unabashedly biased, perpetuating the impression with the public that it's all some overblown hoax.
Misinformation
There is a popular belief that sightings happen only in the Pacific Northwest. Until a few years ago, I was also under this misimpression. The truth is, they have occurred right across the continent in nearly every state, province, and territory in North America. There are literally thousands of respected, intelligent and educated people who have had encounters with an animal they couldn't identify, a creature that fits the description of bigfoot/sasquatch.
Another common misconception is that people who have witnessed something are uneducated, simple, ignorant of what a bear looks like, just plain ignorant, mistaken, a person who is the unwitting butt of a joke, or a hoaxer themselves. In some cases this is true. But there are also hundreds of witnesses that come from a variety of respected professions. Many people who've had sightings have extensive knowledge of wildlife and wilderness environments and were understandably shocked by what they saw. Eye witness reports have come from psychologists, First Nations Indians, police officers, game hunters, accountants, geologists, forestry officials and on and on. What they all have in common is that they have seen a "thing" that isn't supposed to exist.
Fear of Ridicule
Unfortunately, there is such a stigma attached to the subject of sasquatch that most witnesses are hesitant to come forward for fear of ridicule. No one wants to be thought of as crazy or misguided, even though they know what they saw with their own eyes. It doesn't help that the media paints most witnesses with one brushstroke, as people who are confused, easily duped, ignorant, or a hoaxer. For the most part, the general public accepts this media bias as the truth and likely will continue to do so as long as the mainstream scientific community avoids association with the subject.
